Liebster Award...

I was surprised when I found out I had been nominated for a Liebster Award by the fabulous writer of Complicated Gorgeousness . I never thought I would ever get nominated for anything as I'm new to blogging & not exactly as great at writing like some of my fellow bloggers. A Liebster Award is given to bloggers who have less than 200 followers & is a way of new blogs being found & hopefully a way for new blogs to find new readers...
However there were strict instructions that had to be followed in accepting the award and the instructions are:
Give a link back to the blog that nominated me (see above )                                                               Answer some questions set by Complicated GorgeousnessReveal 11 random facts about myself                                                                                                Nominate 5 - 11 new blogs…

Amazing achievments...

Several of my fellow swan bloggers have taken part in a linky set up by http://www.ethans-escapades.co.uk/ and its only this week that I actually feel I can take part too as Roo has made some amazing achievements this pass week alone & I want to share it with you all...
He is trying so so so hard to communicate! For a while now several of Roo team have been concerned with his lack of communication, how he is not progressing in this area but what Ive seen this week gives me hope that one day it may be possible to communicate with my son.
Roo is non - verbal, unable to communicate in any form..we have been signing to him for a year and half now and he had never shown any interest in it, we have started PECS but he is struggling to connect the picture to the object so is not using it as a means of communication at this moment in time...maybe he will..
What has he done that is so amazing you ask? Well he came up to me and TAPPED me to get my attention - something he has never ever do…

What is it with dentists?!

Why do dentists stir up the fear inside children? There's something about dentists as take your child to the doctor or hospital & they are not too bad but from the minute you walk into a dentist building there's something that immediately makes them go all quiet, cry or scream!
Its easy to understand why older children & adults say they hate dentists as they know once you get into the dental chair it can stir up a lot of fears - pain, needles, loud noises, feeling confined, the sound of dental equipment and so on...but a very young child like Roo you would think they would be none the wiser but nope they get the fear once they see the dentist and that room!!
Such was the case with Roo... He has been to see our normal dentist 2 times and the minute we go into the room he goes completely silent, eyes go wide...once the dentist starts to talk Roo gives him what I call the "death stare" & when he sees the dentist move his hand towards his mouth he will clen…

Holiday ....What holiday?

Holidays ... this is a time where you all get excited to go somewhere new, to be able to have "time out" from the every day grind of your life, to spend quality time with the people that mean so much to you - your family, you feel all excited with the preparations before hand but at the same time its stressful trying to get everything organised, making sure you have remembered everything while running around after your kids who are relishing in making as much mess as possible where as you want to keep the house as tidy as possible for going away!!
I never thought this holiday would be any different from previous family holidays - how wrong was I? I never anticipated on how much more stressful a holiday is with a special needs child..maybe I was naive but this was our first proper family holiday since Roo was 8mths old and I just assumed it would be like all previous family holidays...
From the moment we arrived at the holiday site till the moment we came home Roo spent most…
